Corn is also widely grown in tropical, temperate and some cold zones. In addition to food and feed use, it is used to make corn starch from the grain and alcohol from the cob. Grain and cob residues are used as fuel to provide process heat in the factory.
Fluidized bed system, bubbling or circulating, is used for combustion, due to such low melting constituents, as Na, P and K contained in the residues.
