Renewable Energy Utilization and Environmental Protection |
| Renewable energy and environmental protection are the two principal businesses of the Takuma Group. In order to maintain its presence as a leading company in these two fields which are so essential to the development of a sustainable society, Takuma will strive to expand these businesses and thus secure stable income levels. Drawing from our comprehensive engineering experience, we will further strengthen our ability to provide competitive solutions for plant construction planning and project implementation. Additionally, we will promote more active involvement in providing comprehensive solutions for plant operation, maintenance, and/or management services not only in the private sector, which has until now been the focus of our efforts, but also in the public sector as well: Public Private Partnerships (PPP) including but not limited to Private Finance Initiative (PFI). |

Leading Company in the Japanese Packaged Boiler Market |
| In the past, personnel and management resources required for running packaged boiler business operations were distributed throughout the companies of the Takuma Group. Most of these resources have now been consolidated into Nippon Thermoener Co., Ltd., a subsidiary company that was established to take independent responsibility for Takuma's packaged boiler business. By maximizing the synergetic effects achieved by consolidating management resources, increasing market share of small once-through boilers to reach an industry-leading position, and further increasing and stabilizing market share of vacuum hot water heaters, Takuma aims to realize its vision of becoming the leading company in the Japanese packaged boiler market. |

Expansion of Overseas Business |
| In order to effectively respond to various market structures and requirements that exist from one region to another, Takuma will continue to establish local companies to which all necessary engineering know-how is transferred, thus allowing each entity to adapt as needed to unique market conditions. This strategy enables us to maintain a competitive advantage as we strive to increase project orders and achieve sustained earnings levels throughout the Takuma Group. With a steady increase anticipated in the demand for waste-to-energy and biomass power plants throughout Europe, we place a high level of importance on the European market and will accelerate our business activities in the region with active investment of our management resources. |

(*1) Renewable Energy
Renewable energy refers to the energy obtained from naturally occurring renewable resources such as sunlight, wind, and biomass (organic resources of plant and animal origin such as wood wastes, straw, bagasse, livestock excrement, and organic sludge and waste), rather than from non-renewable resources such as petroleum and coal. The use of renewable energy is promoted globally as an anti-global warming measure because it does not lead to increases in emissions of greenhouse gases such as CO2. The emphasis of Takuma's renewable energy business is placed on the utilization of biomass. |
